According to media reports, BYD is currently developing a second-generation blade battery system.

During a recent financial report communication meeting, Wang Chuanfu, the chairman of BYD, unveiled details about the upcoming second-generation blade battery system. Scheduled for release in August 2024, BYD's second-gen blade battery is anticipated to significantly enhance the capabilities of all-electric models, enabling them to surpass the 1,000km CLTC range.

A noteworthy feature of the second-generation blade battery is its expected energy density of 190Wh/kg, a notable improvement over the previous 140Wh/kg. Initially introduced with an energy density of 140 Wh/kg, the first-generation blade battery has now been elevated to 150 Wh/kg.

The second-generation blade battery is also set to be more compact and lighter, leading to a reduced power consumption of over 100 kilometers and lower costs associated with the battery pack. This not only promises increased seating space within the cockpit but also facilitates BYD's ongoing efforts to minimize expenses.
